The Vežica district is located on the hill of the same name in the northeastern part of Sušak, to the north is the Sušačka Draga valley, to the east is Trsat, to the southwest is Vojak, and to the south is Podvežica. The Rijeka Astronomical Center is located on Vežica Hill. On May 18, 2001, members of the Academic Astronomical Society of Rijeka, amateur astronomers and citizens, received the Rijeka Observatory. The trail was conceived as part of an already existing park project on Vežica Hill above the settlement of 'Gornja Vežica'. The special feature of the trail is that it is located near the urban settlement, but, due to the special natural position of the Vežica peak, it forms a rounded natural entity whose great wealth is the wide views of the entire Kvarner region and the Sušačka Draga valley (the highest point is 219 meters above sea level). The importance of this area is also given by the location of the Celtic-Illyrian (Iapodian) hillfort, the existence of which has been confirmed, but not archaeologically explored. Next to the hillfort, at a height of 207 m, there is also the chapel of the Holy Cross, and information about its existence supposedly dates back to the 15th century, but there is no evidence.
