"Malinska is the pearl of the Kvarner Islands" was written by the professor of the University of Vienna, L. Waagen in 1905. Tourism, which is today the main economic activity, started in Malinska at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, thanks to the development of railway and steamship traffic. The first recorded guests were hunters, Austrian and Hungarian aristocrats and Rijeka patricians. They came to the vicinity of Malinska to hunt snipe and other feathered game. Mediterranean culture, as the culture of the Croatian island, is immersed in family, architecture, music and food - its cultivation, processing, preparation and consumption. As the local population engaged in fishing, growing olives, vines, figs and sheep, the tradition was nurtured and proudly lives on today. The interesting and diverse surroundings of Malinska reveal many natural attractions and old historical sites dating back to ancient times.
