The road to Bribir leads from the direction of the sea through the so-called "Paradise valley". Bribir is the former seat of the princes of Krk - Frankopana, (the seat of Bribir and Ostrovica) was built on a hill where it served as a fortress. The remains of the old walls and the town tower remind us of the time of the Frankopan princes, whose four-century rule left deep spiritual and material traces in Vinodol. Bribir experienced its greatest prosperity during the time of Prince Bernardin Frankopan, who strengthened the castle and city walls. When the Bribir manor was abolished in 1848, the municipal authorities demolished the Vela and Mala vrata and the castle, and a school was built in its place. Thus, the long and glorious history of the Bribir fortress ended in ruins. The only remnant of the Bribir fortress is the quadrangular tower from 1302 and part of the walls. From the hill on which the old town is located, there is a view of the valley and Novi Vinodolski. Renaissance works of art in the church of St. Petra and Pavla testify to the high level of cultural and civilizational achievements of medieval Bribir and strong ties with Europe.
