According to the spatial plan of the municipality of Lanišće, reconstruction is possible under the following conditions: Article 87. 1) Existing buildings within construction areas may be reconstructed and/or maintained within the framework of the largest permitted parameters according to the provisions of this Plan. 2) Existing buildings outside construction areas may be maintained and/or reconstructed within the existing dimensions. 3) Existing buildings within construction areas and within areas under protection, designated as architectural heritage in the graphic part of the Plan, may be maintained and/or reconstructed according to the provisions of this Plan and the conditions of the competent Conservation Department. 5) Exceptionally, if the construction of a residential building is planned within the built-up part of the construction area of the settlement, the area/size of the building plot may be smaller than the area specified in paragraph 1 of this Article, or equal to the area of the cadastral plot. Lanišće is today the main center of Ćićarija, but also of the Municipality of Lanišće, which has around 400 inhabitants. This place is nestled on a slope at the foot of Orljak (1106 m). The village is dominated by the church of St. Kancij, Kancijan and Kancijanila from 1927. There was a building from 1609 on this very spot, as evidenced by the inscription on the eastern wall of the bell tower (19 m). The parishioners bought the sacred objects for the new church from the Cathedral of St. Justus in Trieste. Among them is a Gothic crucifix.
