RIJEKA, DRENOVA, we have received a detached house with two three-bedroom apartments of 120 m2. Each apartment has a separate entrance and a large terrace.
On the ground floor of the house there are two garages that provide enough space for parking vehicles and additional storage space. In addition to the garage, there is also enough space to park several cars on the driveway of the house. The garden has a large fireplace and a covered terrace for relaxation and family gatherings. The spacious yard has been carefully landscaped and maintained, with a variety of plant species and a lawn. The property is perfect for larger families who want to live together but maintain their privacy.
The settlement of Drenova was founded about 300 to 400 years ago when the hamlets of Podbreg, Macani, Klanjci, Kablari, Brdina and a few others were formed, and the inhabitants of these small, scattered settlements were called Drenovačani. It was named after the dogwood, a forest fruit tree that grows in the Drenova forests.
A significant year in the history of Drenova, especially for the literacy of its inhabitants, was certainly 1838, when the parish priest Ivan Cvetko founded a church parish and began gathering and teaching children literacy. His efforts led to the construction of a school in 1844, which was completed and started operating in 1852. Notable people who attended the Drenova school are: writer and journalist Ivo Grohovac-Riječanin and Prof. Fran Franković, the father of Istrian teaching, professor and director of the Teacher's School in Kastav, professor at the Teacher's School in Koper, author of "Croatian Beginners" published in Vienna in 1911, founder of the Croatian Public Reading Room in Drenova in 1908.
