The settlement of Škurinje was mentioned in the 16th century when it belonged to the municipality of Plase under the administration of the Devin feudal lords. When Maria Theresa separated Rijeka from Austria in 1779, giving it the status of Corpus Separatum of Hungary, Škurinje remained part of Austria, i.e. from 1849 it belonged to the Macrografofia of Istria until 1918 when it became part of the Kingdom of Italy. From 1920 to 1924 it was part of the Free State of Rijeka, and by the Treaty of Rome in 1924 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, so that the border with Italy passed through the middle of Škurinjska Draga.
