On the hill above Grimalda, there are several streams that form the Butoniga, a tributary of the Mirna. It can be reached by a local road that separates from the state road (D 3) Pazin Buzet.

As a border town, it was also important in the military sense, so in the XVI and XVII. century, suffered several times, especially in the Uskok War.
