In the first half of the 19th century, they began building their summer houses surrounded by lush flower gardens and exotic plants, which eventually became their permanent residence. These villas are located right next to the coast, or rather along the southern road. All villas in Pećine can boast lush gardens, but these are by no means the only green spaces in this part of the city. As many as three parks are located in this relatively small Rijeka neighborhood – Augusta Cesarca Park, Nike Katunara Park and Vidov Park.
