Svetvinčenat, Savičenta and San Vincenti are three names of the same place, which have their origin in the name of the patron saint, the Spanish martyr St. Vincencija, after which one of the five churches in the town is named.

An important part of the cultural heritage of Svetvinčent are the preserved and highly valued remains of the wall frescoes found in the small church of St. Vincent near the city cemetery and in the church of St. Catherine.
