Kozala is a local council of the City of Rijeka. The name Goljak for that hill was lost after the Jesuits of Rijeka built Calvary on the top of the hill in 1627, to which long stairs with chapels-devotees led. These Calvary steps were created as a counterpart to the Trsat steps during the Counter-Reformation, when the Franciscans and Jesuits were intensively engaged in the propaganda of the Roman Catholic faith.
