Ravna Gora is a municipality in Gorski Kotar, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is located in the central part of Gorski Kotar on a plateau with an average altitude of 775–910 meters above sea level, after which it supposedly got its name (at 825 m above sea level there is the Church of St. Teresa of Avila). The entire Ravna Gora field was once a dense forest surrounded by hills. The Ravna Gora municipality includes the settlements of Kupjak, Leskova Draga, Ravna Gora, Stari Laz, Stara Sušica and Šije. The exact date of Ravna Gora's founding is unknown: it is believed that it began before the construction of the Karolinska Road, first in Vrh (part of Ravna Gora), and then at the place where it is still located today. The place initially had several houses through which an ordinary road led. The seat of the present-day municipality is at 177 Ivana Gorana Kovačića Street. The Municipality Day is celebrated on October 15, and the patron saint of the municipality is Saint Teresa of Avila.
