Hreljin is a village in Croatia. It is located above the Bay of Bakar. Some count it among the seven Liburnian fortresses (septem turres) of Roman Liburnia, which is evidence that it is considered an old town.
The old town of Hreljin was located in the area of today's Gradina. It was surrounded by walls with two towers, and had two entrances. At the northwestern and southwestern ends stood a circular defensive tower. The tower facing the Bay of Bakar enclosed a small citadel, probably the oldest part of the fortified settlement, with a defensive wall and a smaller rectangular tower. At the highest point of the hill was a fortress, the remains of which are still well preserved today. In the middle of the settlement was the single-nave church of St. George, with an attached bell tower on the facade.
