In 1900, the Austrian Baron Morhammer built his residence just a kilometer from the sea on the Istrian peninsula, between Ližnjan and Medulin. Together with his 80 workers, most of whom worked in the quarry, he transported stone blocks throughout Istria. These blocks were used to build a wall that surrounds the property, but work also began on a breakwater in the Ližnjan harbor, which unfortunately was never completed due to the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, but the remains of which are still visible today. At the bottom of the canyon-quarry, a well was found walled with semicircular stone blocks, which served as an additional source of water in the dry summer months, but was also used throughout the year in the quarry as water to cool the equipment when cutting stone. The former grassy areas were expanded by filling and are now adapted to the breeding and training of sports horses, while new residential buildings and stables were built on the foundations of the original Morhammer facilities, during which the original remains that today adorn the facilities of the equestrian center were preserved. When arranging the spacious green areas, the overall rich vegetation that Baron Morhammer planted during his stay on the estate was preserved. The diversity and configuration of the terrain enables the growth of those plants that are not typical for our climate. The ranch covers 70,000 square meters - 4 hectares, urbanized, with city water supply, its own well and borehole, and its own power substation (45 kW). All fields have underground irrigation and are drained. A house with an apartment of 200 m2, a restaurant of 150 m2 and a terrace of 8x16 m2, 4 apartments of 45 m2 and a basement of 50 m2 was built in the center. Three stables fully equipped for horses with modern stalls and an electric computer walker, for 4 horses at the same time.
