According to historical documents, a large number of sailors lived and had houses in the area of present-day Crimea, who became rich at the time by organizing transport during the Crimean War, which was fought back in 1855. In those years, Adam Riccotti was building a house in what is now Sušak's "Crimea", and next to the house he also built a small tower on which he had the then-current inscription carved: CRIMEA. The inscription seemed sensational and attractive in the general mood of those years, and since then the people of Sušak started calling Riccotti's house "Crimea", and the name of the house has remained the name of the entire area to this day.
