Hreljin is a village in Croatia. It is located above the Bakar Bay. Some consider it one of the seven Liburnian forts (septem turres) of Roman Liburnia, which testifies to its being considered an old town.
The old town of Hreljin was located in the area of today's Gradina. It was surrounded by walls with two towers, and had two entrances. At the northwestern and southwestern ends stood a circular defensive tower. The tower facing the Bay of Bakar enclosed a small citadel with a defensive wall and a smaller rectangular tower, probably the oldest part of the fortified settlement. At the highest point of the hill was a fortress, the remains of which are still well preserved today. In the middle of the settlement was the single-nave church of St. George, with an attached bell tower on the facade.
