Turnić is a real treasure trove of people who grew up here in the sixties and seventies of the last century, and in many ways they have influenced all branches of today's Rijeka culture, economy, and medicine. What makes it "especially special" is the fact that people who created the most important Rijeka punk bands grew up there. Territorially, one of the smallest Rijeka neighborhoods, in terms of a whole series of elements, is one of the most important in the "flowing city". Turnić most likely owes its name to one of the towers that may have existed on that site in a number of historical periods. After all, the architects who designed the building of today's school on Turnić within the Art Nouveau framework were also guided by the appearance of the tower. Certainly, such thinking in the past also goes to the Italian name for Turnić – Toretta.
