The island of Krk is one of the sunniest parts of Europe with 2,500 hours of sunshine a year. The variety of relief and favorable climatic conditions have contributed to the development of approximately 1,400 different plant species. The central and western part of the island is dominated by forests, cultivated crops of Mediterranean fruits and vegetables, vineyards and olive groves.
