Turnić most likely owes its name to one of the towers that may have existed in that place in a number of historical periods. After all, the architects who designed the building of today's school on Turnić within the Art Nouveau framework were also guided by the appearance of the tower. Certainly, the Italian name for Turnić - Toretta - goes back to such thinking in the past.
